Brand New @ the Quest Club (summer 06)
we may have overdrank for this one, if there ever is an actual activity called ‘overdrink’, but luckily there’s not, so sidekick and I were in full form, our friend ellen left because she was in such a form. but i screamed along with every song, even the new ones, and body surfed towards the end of the show. everything i want in a post pop punk show.

Pete Yorn @ the Varsity Theater (summer 06)
I got to run monitors for one my biggest influences and favorite songwriters. A more intimate band and a full set was a great night.

the Album Leaf @ 400 Bar & Zero 7 @ Fine Line
They brought their sounds full force, full of organic crescendoing and extended downtempo jams, everything I want in that style of music. The Zero 7 show was oversold and too packed to fully appreciate it, but the Album Leaf was great both sound and capacity-wise.

Sam Roberts @ 400 Bar
With Jason Collett opening, the night was a great night for singer/songwriters. It had great jams and guitar soloes and an abundance of call and response with a lively drinking crowd.

Seu Jorge @ Bonnaroo (June 16, 2006)
I had not heard a lot of Seu Jorge’s full band stuff, but knew of him through Life Aquatic (as I would assume many in the US do), but he’s a full-blown star in Brazil. His voice translates great live and his band was amazingly rhythmic. The main drummer resembled Sammy Sosa to a T, he also gave the thumbs up a lot and said ‘Niiiice’. We dressed up as Team Zissou for the show. It was a solid, solid set.

Atmosphere @ Bonnaroo (June 17, 2006)
We almost didn’t even go to this show. I mean, a Minnesotan at a national festival, but we went to support him. We didn’t need to, as his tent was packed the brim. A solid set with Ant on tables and the full band for the other half of the set. This was the loudest I’ve ever heard chants and screams for an encore.. and he didn’t even come out for it. But great, great set.

DJ Sasha @ Bonnaroo (June 17, 2006)
This is only on here because the set went from 3:30 am to 6 am and there was a GREAT light show, and as the sun came up, I was still intoxicated and wondering about all the people that were getting for work and if they even understood the joy of meandering back to a camper for a few hours rest, only to be bombarded by the thing that souls my sould, music, for the next day.

Cloud Cult (multiple)
Words can’t express the feelings that are brought up at any Cloud Cult show. Craig is the top songwriter on my list. He constantly is evolving their live show, always in innovative way that makes me at first question it, then embrace it. (ie - live painting, more keyboard, extended jams) As they already are a hippie-ish band, I get worried about them turning into a Phish-flung band, but it has not happened and their jams only add to the DYNAMIC of their sound.

Corinne Bailey Rae
Just a radiant human. It was the last leg of her US tour, so we partied with her till the dawn. And there’s nothing better than English people trying to outdo you with Motown covers and English accents.
